The nice dressed man was in on the ‘theft’. Now that he has ingratiated himself with the old man he further cslm him by inviting him to dinner, order a round of drinks where one of the waiters is actually one of the two who ‘tried’ to swipe the bag. He will put something in the old mans drink ensuring he goes to the bathroom giving the ‘nice’ guy time to rummage the bag while still ensuring a friendly demeanor incase they need more information from the old man later. This is classic spy games 101 playbook. Cmon boys get better.
