We had a tadpole that was almost a year old. We were getting ready to release it back into the pond it came from once it was tadpole season again, and the fucker died

This tadpole has, of I recall, a petuitary gland issue that made it unable to turn into a frog and instead just keep getting bigger. So it will never turn into a frog.
