War and the dead aren’t exactly up there on the good guy spectrum.

Disney did Hades so dirty because he’s honestly one of the chillest gods in Greek mythology.
Why did he need to be the villain? Hera was RIGHT THERE. SHE WAS THE ACTUAL VILLAIN OF THE HERACLES MYTH.
Hades didn’t even exist at the time that was originally written!

Ah yes, the chillest and least chill gods have something in common.
Hades got a lot of respect because you were going to meet him eventually and it really wasn’t anything personal, he was just king of the place you wind up when you die. Ares was out to cause trouble and kill motherfuckers so no one liked him. Romans kinda freaked Greeks out with their reverence for Mars, who they interpreted as Ares.

As archetypal constructs go, war and death are up there in terms of the scariest
But funny and on point meme lol it is weird

Alright.
Ares has a myth where he defends his daughter from assault.
Guess what Zeus has Myths of him killing dudes trying to assault women under his protection too. So does Apollo and Poisiden
Ares was the embodiment and god of the Brutal and horrible aspects of war. Which Included the Greek culturaly accepted practice of mass sexual assault and taking women as Spoils of war.
Even the one city that where it was said women “celebrate” Ares did so in an attempt to keep him away.
Good guy feminist Ares was not a thing.

More than likely there are some stories about them doing that that were simply lost to time.

It always bugs me how Hades-glazing posts like this ignore him abducting Persephone and deceiving her into being forced to spend a quarter of every year with him forever.

The word “mortal” is doing a lot of work with Hades.

I’m concerned about why you had to specify mortal

… So immortal women are fine?

If your bar for a ‘good guy’ is ‘Not raping’, there’s something wrong with you.

Persephone? I mean, they referred to it as her “rape” for centuries now…

Yeah, Hades just kidnapped and held his wife hostage, which makes any encoder between them nonconsensual.
