    1. Ted Williams lost nearly five full MLB seasons serving in WWII and the Korean War. Despite missing years in his prime, he still finished with 521 home runs and a .344 batting average, making him one of the greatest hitters ever. During Korea, he flew combat missions as a Marine pilot alongside future astronaut John Glenn.

      I wonder just how good his vision was. The last player to hit .400 which will probably never happen again, a lifetime .482 on base percentage which is literal video game shit, and then ended up teaching people how to fly fighter jets later in his military career. Ted Williams is a legend.
