      I wish I was confident that this would cost her that teaching position.

      Edit: hell, I was wrong. She was fired with the quickness. Nice to see some good news.

      I remember a time when this wouldn’t have been okay in the USA. How things have changed, and not in a good way. Too much winning…..

      Her name is Karen Savage. She has been fired per the school district. She was a teacher at Hillsborough County middle school, edited to add: specifically Barrington Middle School in Lithia. I will link the article I found that names her and provides quite a bit of info.

      Why?

      You might be a racist but why would it even cross your mind to do that, especially in front of kids?

      Is there a mind virus going around that takes away people’s self control and rational decision making?

      Would the outrage be the same if the baby doll was white? I’m not saying it’s okay either way, just curious.

      My own opinion, she is an older sibling and did this to torture her younger siblings.

      I’m having trouble wrapping my head around this. I’m not referring to her racism – we’ve had plenty of time to be dismayed and appalled by racism – I‘m just trying to figure out her thought process. Was she feeling so emboldened by Trump et al that she felt free and protected to express her deepest, darkest hatred in front of children without consequence? Why in front of children? Was she under the influence of something? Is she suffering from a serious mental disorder? I’m bewildered.

      They have always been this bold. It’s just recorded now. This is why they hate people being able to record.

      Deja vu! When I was in junior high in rural(ish) Texas in the early ’80s, our American history teacher hung a black Cabbage-Patch doll by her neck from the ceiling fan cord — pretty much like the picture except that “Pauline” had a frilly dress — and left her for several days. She was then transferred to a cage on his desk where he kept her until the end of the semester, as I recall. He also borrowed a butterfly knife from a student on the first day of class, and stabbed it through a picture of Abraham Lincoln into a bulletin board. He would rate Civil War battles as “good carnage” and “bad carnage” and pass out explicit photos of battlefield injuries. He would take us “a-viking” to invade other classrooms. The man was certifiable and I do not know how he got away with it. This was 8th grade.

      What is their justification for it? I cannot imagine it will be persuasive, but I would like to hear it all the same.
