Awesome! I don’t know if this ever happened, but we tried to do this.
When we were looking after a long haired German Shepherd for a while, we’d gather up all his fur while sweeping the house – there was a lot of it! We’d put it outside in the hopes birds would use it for nest material.
Never got to see if any did, but we get a lot of birds in our yard, so I’m hopeful multiple nests like this existed when we were doing that.

That bird really walked past twigs, moss, and leaves and went “nah, premium dog fur penthouse edition.”
I put out all the fur my cats forget around the house. Just because birds aren’t real doesn’t mean they don’t need nests too.
