I’m an atheist and like most atheists, I don’t commit crime or otherwise intentionally cause harm because it’s the right fucking thing to do! I don’t need the promise of “heaven” to do the right thing.

In that same time span the share of religiously unaffiliated people (atheist, agnostic, or nothing in particular) in the US has risen from around 14% to 29%. Weekly church attendance has fallen from 42% of US adults to 30% of US adults over this century while church membership has dropped from 70% to 47% over the same time span. Meanwhile, many less religious countries than the US have much lower crime rates.
So, once again, Trump is making an assertion reality doesn’t back up.
