USA: “We want independence!”
Britian: “Absolutely not! We will declare war on you and fight to stop you at all costs!”
Canada: “Can we be independent plz?”
Britian: “lol sure”
The path to Canadian independence is quite long. Some say we are still a British dominion. But hey Britain did agree to give up their control of our constitution in the Canada Act 1982 so ya.
It was more like this:
Canada: “oh command! Its such a small thing we are asking, and it has turned so badly in the places you said no to stuff like that…”
Brits: *sigh* “I guess, at least you arent asking for independence…”
*Rince and repeat thirty to forty times*
Canada: “Alright, we are already independant in practice so time to make it official! Better for everyone if we can keep things collaboration, dont you think!”
Brits: “Well, cant fault the logic!”
Didn’t Britain basically rule upper and lower Canada through its oligarchs causing a violent uprising that finally got the British government to give them concessions and unify them?
So you’re saying that Canada can thank the Americans for their independence?
