Forever amused that the only reason Mace Windu has a purple lightsaber is because Samuel L Jackson thought it would look cool.
There’s a video of George Lucas and Samuel L. Jackson on set while filming discussing the available colors “good guys are green and blue; bad guys are red” and Samuel goes “no purple then?” and George says “you might get purple”.
So it’s definitely something that was a later addition.
He also had blue in Jedi Power Battle.
The original Luke Skywalker action figure had a yellow light saber.
The [hilt design](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Mace_Windu%27s_blue-bladed_lightsaber) of Mace Windu’s blue lightsaber was essentially 1/4 of [Darth Maul’s lightsaber](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Darth_Maul%27s_double-bladed_lightsaber) with some slight changes to the emitter and pommel. It’s good that they changed the color and the hilt design as both were very generic and Mace is a memorable character.
He build a new one between I and II. The hilt of his lightsaber is briefly visible in Phantom Menace, and it’s not the same one as in the later movies.
I still have mine as well, its still in the original shipping package. Worth next to nothing, but I think its cool.
All his Phantom Menace merch has him with a blue lightsaber I believe.
Hand me my lightsaber. It’s the one that says BMF on it.
That’ll be worth some money, then.
