On May 19, 1962, Marilyn Monroe delivered on of the most scandalous performances in pop culture, singing a breathy “Happy Birthday” song to President JFK. Her flesh colored, rhinestone encrusted gown was so tight she had to be sown into it. In 2016, it sold at auction for $4.8 million. [1251×1000]

    1. Marilyn was NOT sewn into the dress. I don’t know where this is coming from. Source?? There is a full-on zipper in the back of the dress.

It’s possible people are confusing this story with Olivia Newton John’s story from Grease, where she had to be sewn into those tight black leather pants at the end of the movie.
