Tax the rich. Let’s get back to taxing the top bracket at 91% like the 1960s.
Edit: or wealth tax. Jesus fuck, everyone. It’s about the results, not how it’s implemented. The rich are squeezing us dry.

There should be a law to prevent/limit all the loopholes in avoiding taxes for the Rich.

It pisses me off to no end that politicians will try to enact something like “higher taxes on a second (or more) home that is worth over 5 million dollars”
And billionaires will run ads showing a normal family with kids getting into the car to take a trip to the beach only to be told the evil taxes are going to make their beach trip go away forever. With a tagline like “tell congress your vacation is *your* time. Speak out against taxing your vacation!”

If you have 800 million instead of 1 billion because of tax, that means you’re not a billionaire, would you be able to recover from that ?
No you wouldn’t.

Americans: taxes bad, giving money to government bad! Healthcare bad!
Also Americans: I’m happy to give Israel billions and pay for their Healthcare, let’s also give Argentina billions, and while we’re here let’s pay a billion for a ballroom, a billion to a personal slush fund for the president, and another 1.5 trillion for the military to keep bombing fishing boats in Venezuela while being unable to control the Strait of Hormuz. Also happy to pay triple for everything including gasoline!

Except, in the UK at least, they are not taxing the rich. It’s the low to middle income people who are now getting increased taxation.

The idea that I pay more income tax than a billionaire is fucking ridiculous.
IRS needs to close the loopholes.Tax Billionaires at 50% if they don’t like it they can go live in another country as they can just afford to pickup and leave on a moments notice. It won’t really matter as we don’t ever really receive help from the richest people to ever live.

Nobody earns a billion dollars. They get to be billionaires by taxing the economic output of the workers they employ, at a rate that they should be liable to be taxed at to pay for the things their workers couldn’t afford because so much of the fruits of their labor were skimmed by their parasitic CEOs and shareholders.

It reminds me of the scene in Blades of Glory where Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are talking and Amy asks “why is god singling us out for the greatest suffering the world has ever known?” While Will sits on a bear rug in a mansion. It’s so out of touch and goes through my head every time I hear the 1% bitch about being taxed out of a small percentage of their hoarded wealth

Same exact poses except they are dressed in “regular clothes” and crying about how dare the government want to tax the rich.

Let’s be real. At this point money is just a score number on a screen for the wealthy. That number can go up or down, but barring absolute catastrophe, that number will never get low enough to actually affect their lives. So it’s all about keeping score. Whoever has the highest number has the top score. Who cares if they’ll never spend that money in a thousand years, what’s important is the ranking.
Meanwhile average people are dying when their score gets too low. People starve, people lose their homes, people can’t fix their car or pay for healthcare or leave abusive relationships. That affects their reality.
These people don’t live in the real world.

If they taxed Jeff bezos at 50% he would still have more money than an average person could make in 30k+ lifetimes. That’s insane to think about.
I really want an answer as to how much money do you need?
Even celebrities with millions in net worth, they are still trying to make more. Realistically if I had 2M I I’m good. I can use interest to live my life. Why does anyone need a billion?
