The Hawaiian Monk Seal assaulter has been arrested and is in custody. No animal, especially an endangered animal, should be harassed or nearly harmed in this manner. Hugely disrespectful to the animal, the island of Maui, and should be punished to the maximum.

Hawaiian Monk Seals and Mediterranean Monk Seals have very low numbers, but have avoided extinction unlike the Caribbean Monk Seal which used to live on the southern coasts and Keys of Florida. It had a range from Bermuda to the Yucatán, to the south Everglades to the coast of Venezuela.
