      They’re also given an allowance for housing in DC and a stipend for living costs.

      I say they build a dormitory and have a curfew and a dining hall.

      I keep commenting on these articles. Too many people don’t realize that they also get approximately $200 per day in per diem. Imagine having $73,000 for a living expenses that don’t touch your salary.

      Simple answer. Dont run if you think the money isnt enough. Ban insider trading. Its supposed to be service to your country but nobody seems to even pander to that anymore

      As Mike Johnson is very worried about American families not having enough money for the basics, I have a suggestion: let’s use the Congressional salary are the basis for the minimum wage.

      Now most jobs aren’t as important as a Representative, so we’ll set the minimum wage as only 1/4 of a Congressman’s salary and we want workers to work more hours that the average congressman, so the minimum wage should be $21.00 per hour.

      Mike’s so worried about people being able to support their family, I certain he can see this is a good idea.

      A $21.00 minimum wage would also reduce the number of families needing SNAP benefits.

      That’s win-win-win !

      It’s funny that they understand the necessity of a living wage when it comes to them but not when it comes to average American.

      I don’t care if they get a raise to 500k a year if they’re put in jail for corruption as needed.

      No you don’t get it, if we didn’t pay them that much then the “elite” people who are our representatives would go be lawyers or CEOs or something because regular people aren’t smart enough to take the job.
