When France said that they were about to loan the US money, they didn’t expect that the US will be paying them revolution as collateral.

They wanted to fuck with the British, we never forced them to pay anything.

    3. Less out of ‘Liberté, égalité, fraternité’ and more out of ‘man, we really don’t like the British’.

France was an extremely dysfunctional state by that point. A French Revolution was pretty inevitable.

Should have probably used the Bourbon Flag, using the tricolor makes it look like the revolutionaries weren’t happy about this

    6. French Monarchy: I’m sorry but you will have to suffer through austerity. We have spent a considerable amount of money.

French citizens: what did we spend the money on?

French Monarchy: helping the American become free from the rule of their king!

French citizens: wait…. You can do that?

      French Monarchy: ……

    7. Yes yes we may be bankrupt and on the verge of revolutionary collapse but have you considered fuck Britain?

    8. None of the comments are saying it so I guess I will: the monarchy of France is who helped the US win it’s independence and it wasn’t motivated by some belief in freedom, it’s because France and England were deep into a centuries long rivalry at that point and losing the colonies would hurt England. Why would the Americans help revolutionaries who just cut the head off of the king that helped win their independence?

TLDR if you think a historic event was motivated by high-minded morality, you’re overlooking the profit incentive.

    10. Most of the “American independence war” was not fought in North America though. It was a fight to reduce British power basically everywhere.
