I live in the bumfuck middle of nowhere France, and before we got fiberglass, we were stuck with 1,5mbs real donwload speed for 30€/month. Most of the time mobile hotspot was better. Now it’s the same orice but for 8gbs, 700mbs real.

Its not even about speed, in Egypt you might only have a few hundred gigabytes per month, so if you download a 100gb game you have to plan on running out of internet early and spending the last week of the month without any internet.
The strat used to be waiting for the last day or 2 of the month to start the download, so you finish any leftover internet you might have had
