Oh man I have dreams where zeppelin style carriers exist today. How awesome would it be to perfect and have these bad boys shuttling from building tops again. Bring back the zepp!

Just before Covid I went to the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshaven. It was awesome. They had full size replica sections of the Hindenburg. So many other cool exhibits. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. It’s on the German side of Lake Constance. Europe’s largest lake.

The accident caused 35 fatalities (13 passengers and 22 crewmen) among the 97 people on board (36 passengers and 61 crewmen), and an additional fatality on the ground.

And more people were killed in the R101 crash, which (of course) is memorialized in a song by Iron Maiden.

It blows my mind that 62 out of 97 people survived. Like, how did *anyone* survive that??

According to my great-grandmother, my great-uncle was on that tower. Never verified if true but grandpa said it was.
Good picture, but then again stupid endeavour …. It’s a hydrogen balloon….. we have pictures an video of 300 kids drowning…..that’s haunting— somee 30 people falling to the ground is hardly THE MOST HAUNTING!
one picture of 9/11 makes this a footnote!….
This is not in the top 1000…. Have you ever seen a whole village drowned in 300 feet of dirt?

i’d argue the pictures of people jumping out of WTC to their death were much more “haunting”. this was just a tragic explosion

Just listened to the new SYSK episode on my morning walk and it took me a few minutes before I looked down and realized I was wearing my Led Zeppelin shirt with this iconic album art. Very weird.

I know this doesn’t make sense to everyone, but I used to work with a guy that was a witness to the H-Burg. Obviously he was a child at the time, but told his version like it happened yesterday.

God it’s oddly beautiful for a horrible tragedy.
still crazy to think that 62 people actually survived that inferno
Made for an awsome album cover.
