I got tired of dating apps full of bots and overseas scammers so I built gr8date.com.au — a dating site where every single signup is manually reviewed by a real person before being approved.
No automation. No algorithms deciding who gets in. Just human eyes on every application.
Here's what the data looks like after 790 approved members:
– 530 male / 260 female (33% female)
– Last week: 27 male signups vs 3 female
– Every single one manually verified as a real Australian
The gender gap is the biggest challenge. Men join instantly and enthusiastically. Women are far more cautious — and honestly after seeing these numbers I completely understand why. The whole internet has taught women to be suspicious of dating sites.
My current theory: women need to see social proof and trust signals before they'll join anything new. Working on that now.

I wish I had a gif for this
But at some point, you will become the bouncer at the club entrance with a clicker in hand rejecting dudes that look suspect, because the women % is far too low and no one wants to be surrounded in a sausage factory.
