Some of yall tolerate tyrants and warmongers if the aesthetics are cool enough.

Absolutely right, Caeser couldn’t do wrong even if he tried.

eh, he let his ambition get the best of him and that got him killed. He should have left everything and retired with Cleopatra contemplating sunsets through a fancy ship in the Nile.

I don’t know…. I’d say banging Cleopatra was a poor choice.

For all the many flaws of the late Republican period, and there are many (and it is surprisingly and eerily similar to today,) the tyranny of the emperors was worse. Just because the first two Caesars aura farmed over their opponents (as the kids would say) doesn’t justify the ills of the personalist system they implemented. Also justice for Marcus Tullius Cicero.

Every Roman from the Romulus murdering Remus to the Visigoths sacking Rome was a terrible person. Fight me.

Julius Caesar, the Queen of Bythnia?

Caesar was an extremely militarily gifted, extremely personally braveโฆtyrant, genocide perpetuator, and proto-populist who sunk the already withering republic for good. There probably was no way to right the Republic post-Sulla but that does not absolve him from ending Republican governance in a large polity for literal millennia.
