It was just done way too late. They let him rot away alive for weeks, constantly arguing. If that last attempt had been done on the first or second day after he was stranded, it could have been a success.

    2. Context?

edit: Having now caught up on what happened, what the actual fuck. Why did they wait literal months and only THEN do something?

I didn’t understand this shit myself, classmates were talking about saving “timmy”, and with each attempt i was just thinking… why won’t you let it die in peace? How much pollution did we create in those attempts to “save” a dying whale, that killed or atleast contributed to the damage to the ocean? I’m not well versed in it, but i know ships guzzle low grade fuel like it’s nothing.

The whale named “Timmy” was a huge topic in germany. Problem is that the whale has been stranded *several times*. The people kept helping him and freeing him again and again but he would end up stranding at a different place again and again. It went so far that a specialist from Hawaii had been flown out to Germany to help (though she left again bc two “activist” men were apparently just doing it for clout and annoyed her enough to leave). A few organizations and rich individuals donated and organized a last huge rescue for him that went on for hours to save him and lead him out to the north sea, where the tracker (that they put on him) later suddenly stopped sending a signal. The whale was probably already sick from the beginning.
      RIP Timmy
Edit: confused ocean with the north sea. Spelling mistake (cloud instead of clout)

    5. The point was never really to save him but for him not to die on the beach. Cleaning up that mess would’ve been even more effort.

We are talking about the country that is the second largest supplier of arms to Israel so prolonging the pain and suffering of innocents is like their thing.

    7. Damn, they must’ve really wanted the excuse to riot.

No way most of them actually gave a shit.

But we could live beside the ocean, leave the fire behind, swim out past the breakers, and watch the world die.

Sounds like a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation to me.

Should’ve sent the bavarian police to deal with it, they would’ve just shot it and put it out of their misery like they did the catfish last year.

My personal idea was to ask the russians if they could find the japanese torpedo boats in the baltic sea. I heard the Japanese still to whaling and they might’ve had a way to deal with the Ehale more humanely.

I don’t knownhow you deal with a whale humanely, i doubt that you can just put it down like any other animal injured beyond help. Maybe a guided bomb from a plane might be the quickest mist painless method i don’t know.

German public? Nah, the people I was around with were sick of hearing these tax sinking stories every day. It was awful..

Dont forget that a German politician is in jail right now because they used the wrong pronoun for the whale lmao Germany is so cooked, they should vote AFD and have Putin manage their country.

Such a tragic story of us humans trying to stop the evolution of the whales.

They want to become land-bound animals so bad. Yet we won’t let them and keep sending them back to the sea.

We’re talking about a country that decommissioned its nuclear energy because the Russians were too stupid to safely boil water, and now theyre dependant on said Russians for less clean gas.

    15. Zerwurmler357 on

literally no normal thinking human being was wanting this whale to survive

If, in the not so distant future, anyone asks how we could fall back into fascism, just tell them the story of this damn sea mammal and everything will become painfully obvious.

God alll the talk about this fuckass whale was pissing me off so much

The people that really cared was everyone’s weird aunt that likes AI generated ragebait on TikTok and believes in healing crystals.

      Nature: ‘this animal can’t survive.’

      Internet: ‘have we tried vibes?

    20. Wish the media and people here cared even half as much about human life. One can only dream of a world every Palestinian child gets the same attention.

    21. I am soooo glad this thing is finally dead. While I love whales and wish these intelligent creatures all the luck in the absolute hell that is the deep sea, the mass psychosis brought on by this washing ashore was insane. Every news outlet abandoning actually important world events for a several ton animal that would have died of natural causes, people flooding social media with AI generated songs and pictures etc.

    22. s_gamer1017 on

Surely it is nicer for a maritime animal to die in its natural habitat than some german beach, so I wouldn‘t call it prolonging the suffering.
