I’ve been seeing a lot of hate for this season of The Boys and, genuine question, what is it that people hate? It feels the same as all the rest of the seasons to me. It has the same kind of story and shock value content as every other season.
It’s starting to feel like when a show is good, people will always hate the final season because they’ve concocted this perfect end fantasy in their head that no media could ever live up to, so no matter what the last season is like, they will say it’s bad because it doesn’t live up to the imaginary fantastical ending they made up in their mind.

I will never understand what was going through the heads of the writers when ending The Man in The High Castle. The show was so incredibly strong and then the ending is just entirely non-sensical and unsatisfying? Like yeah game of thrones wins the award for biggest fumble but high castle was just absurd with how the terrible ending just sorta sneaks up on you out of nowhere.

The way Hollywood produces TV series, they often do not ever plan for a final season. Most shows are simply cancelled once viewership declines.
Instead of pitching a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end, studios usually pitch a concept that can be extended indefinitely. If the show attracts viewers, they keep renewing and stretching it season after season. Eventually the ratings fall, the show stops being profitable, and it gets cancelled before the story reaches a proper conclusion.

HIMYM had a weak final season but I’m still of the opinion it teaches the valuable life lesson that things happen in life when they are meant to, and nothing in life is to be taken for granted. The final episode isn’t bad.
