It is hard to end a show. Why does nobody put Lost on these memes? That seems like the quintessential one

You can see many shows decline as they go and can well asume they will have an ass ending.

Haven’t seen the boys ending yet but Game of Thrones needs a much bigger sword. Their flop was WAY worse than any of the others. They were a bigger show and had the worst ending of them all.

Classic case of too many cooks with poor pacing towards and of the ending.
GoT is still peak collapse though. Never seen a franchise die so quickly as it

Stranger Things ending wasn’t bad compared to the others. The other’s ending would be better off just not having a last episode.
CordiallySuckMyBalls on
Two out of eight episodes were deemed “filler and bad” but Episode 7 I thought was decent. We still have one episode to go so as long as they stick the landing there’s still a shot it will end fine.
Personally I’ve liked the season, especially the lighter one where we more or less got one more episode that was “a day in the life”kinda vibe, even though that’s the one everyone hates. I think it’s nice to do just one last episode like that rather than make everything nail biting.

Let me add Heroes to the mix. Absolutely loved the first season or two. And then… well, if you haven’t watched it I would suggest watching it. Even given the lackluster ending, I still enjoyed it overall.

Last season of THE BOYS is actually really good. Especially Soldier Boy character is just perfect for the series. Only downside is that now Homelander seems like a useless character.

the walking dead and the boys were fumbling for years before this. Stranger things last season was a mess and a half and somewhat disappointing but it was decent.

The Boys is not even done yet and I’ve enjoyed the last season so far.

Coming from an author: Endings usually need to hit three elements at once: External values (usually the final battle), internal values (usually love or ‘finding themselves’) and perhaps most importantly: philosophical values (societal changes).
The problem is that philosophical values are difficult to implement, because they are often very abstract, and the author needs a lot of time to create fitting symbolism throughout that acts like a representing vessel of the narrative’s philosophical values. Usually, therefore, the authors/directors/screenwriters kinda get a little lazy and saying something like: “The audience is too stupid to notice.” which is just lying to themselves to avoid doing the hard revisionist work. A decent writer will have payoff in external values. A good writer will have payoff in internal values. A masterful writer will have payoff in philosophical values.
If an ending falls flat, well… we all know why: The writers didn’t plan far enough ahead.

I wish to add Ragnarok, a norwegian series to this table for being the coolest myth-inspired show ive ever seen that also managed to invalidate literally everything it had done since the first episode with the last episode’s explanation literally breaking its own continuity in several ways to make >!”it was just an hallucination” !<fit as an ending
The worst part is the show wasnt bad until that last fucking episode, like seriously, they ended the second to last episode with an open-ended truce that i genuinley consider to be the real ending because what do you mean the blatantly mythologial stuff that has happened for 2-3 seasons now >!was JUST a hallucination???!<
>!(for context, basically all the norse god’s spirits reawoke in the modern era and the whole series was basically going through mythological scripture but now modern, however APPARENTLY because of a death that the mc witnessed in the first episode, it was just all him poorly handling reality or something. now i could accept this as a reasonable ending if done right, but as i mentioned, there were several suspiciously magical things that affected the word around him in was that actually ripples in others lives to the point that we only recognize one of the side characters BECAUSE of that, and thats not the worst part, several leading things happened BEFORE this “traumatizing” event, which was barely traumatizing outside of someone who had been his friend for barely a week turning into cooked meat for being poor with a parachute, she’s 18-ish, of course she may make mistakes, if they gave the death more focus, or more reason to be traumatic i would totally accept that but that was just so… tam) !<
