I have an incredibly similar hat to hers in my collection! So neat to see a photograph of someone from the era wearing one almost identical.
Grandma definitely had a bright red lip going on here! I saw your later photo, and it looked like she preferred to look more natural. She must have wanted (or had her female relatives’ influence) to be a little more glam for their portrait.
They both have kind smiles. Were they a happy couple?
Can I ask when they died? I swear I knew them when I was younger. I grew up in Marion County, where Salem is the county seat.
