1915, my grandfather on the left and his brother. This was during the First World War. Their kepis had "Patrie" (Fatherland) written on them. His brother died during the Second World War, but that story will be covered in other photos I'll post here.

If that reads “Patrie” I really need to get my eyes checked. That says either “Maine” or something along the lines of marine… So I’m guessing this is AI
