i know its just a silly meme, but i never liked it.
in 1939, the Germans didnt say “oh shit, here we go again”, they said “finally, lets go” because they had been warmongering throughout most of the 1930s about “conquering living space” and “bringing all Germans into the Reich”. They wanted war, they wanted to conquer. And it wasnt just the high ranking Nazis, the people and the average soldiers were super into it, believing themselves militarily and most alarmingly morally superior to those peoples they attacked due to nazi propaganda.
im not saying we shouldnt be allowed to approach dark times in history with light-hearted memes, but we should at least try to stay accurate in terms of what happened and avoid shortcutting to ahistorical narratives.
