    1. Land wasn’t really a big sticking point for them. When the Framers were writing the Constitution at the Philadelphia Convention they rejected property qualifications for federal office, and when the States held elections for the ratifying conventions they drastically reduced property qualifications for voters.

Landowners were just preferred since they were less likely to vote for politicians who would raise taxes.

Yeah but one thing that george specifically remains superior compared us about is the belief political parties suck and will destroy our nation.

It wouldnt be “unlanded” men that these guys would be surprised/concerned about

It’s almost like they’re fallable humans who shouldn’t be worsipped and instead respected with the acknowledgement that our country should be based on our own free thought.

Having met both of the above examples, person A only says this to person B because Person’s B’s schnoz would be all the way up the founding fathers assholes, were they alive.
AFAIK They don’t actually give a shit about the founding fathers, they just find the brownnosing disgusting.

I’m gonna be honest, I feel like they wouldn’t be that greatly surprised or annoyed. Like they probably assumed that maybe some of these rights with time would be gained. Heck, the right to vote for none unlanded men was given whilst most of these guys were alive. Slavery, whilst they were DEFINITELY RACIST and would probably be shocked by that, they did assume slavery would end due to becoming economically useless. Women’s rights I’m unsure of, because on one hand, some states like New Jersey did give landed women the right to vote, but on the other hand these rights were pretty rapidly removed, similar to how free African American voting rights were restricted after previously being allowed post revolution.

I think the founding fathers would REALLY like internet porn and fast food

The person who made this meme hasn’t read many voting laws from the early United States.

    9. The American founding fathers if they were alive now: you elected two papists?! And not only papists they are also m*cks!?!?

    10. The founders were not a monolith

Anyone could vote in NJ as long as they had $50 to their name. Ballots had “he or she” on them until 1807 when the Democratic Republicans whipped up a lot of women hate because women weren’t voting for them. (There’s no evidence black people were allowed to vote or did vote but no laws against it either)

Democratic Republicans included Jefferson and Madison

Federalists (the party women in NJ were voting for) included Hamilton and Adams

I think a lot of them would be weirded out by us caring so much about what they would hypothetically think.

    12. Both Jameses (Madison and Monroe) lived long enough to see unlanded men get the vote by 1830 10 of the 16 states got rid of requirements to own landed especially as the country expanded west but it would take North Carolina 20 years after James Madison (25 after Monroe) died to be the last state to abolish property requirements
