As much as I have fond memories of going out for walks with my dad and watching films with him during lockdown, we should not be romanticizing pandemics.
In addition to the casulaties, you had people living alone who were mentally suffering, businesses shutting down, family members being forced to die alone since nobody could visit them, funerals where only a few people could attend, hospitals with exhausted and stressed nurses and doctors who were putting themselves at high risk every single day, the list does go on but you probably get it by now.
My family were the lucky ones, we were all together and none of us ended up getting COVID, but I would not wish for it to happen again.
