      Well he did put a hell of a fight. But did not help him much in the end, did it?
      Some even claim that he was even assasinated in 1718 by swede tired of “cowabunga it is”.

      Charles indeed was a great general, but sure an awful war planner. After basically winning the war, instead of signing peace he decided to fully crush his opponents, which had much bigger population and stronger economy, he also absolutely forgot about Russia, giving Peter time to rebuild his army, which eventually led to his defeat
