      Growing up, my key was on a lanyard like a middle-aged dad’s work ID.

      “You lose this, we better have to go looking for your head.”

      I did not lose my key.

      Yeah, this fear definitely got passed to me.

      Makes zero sense, would have to specifically be someone that knows me AND where I live either stole it (and my entire key ring they are on) or saw me drop the damn thing for this to be a possibility.

      Still an inherited, overly paranoid fear.

      When I was a kid my mom told me if I didn’t go chase the ding long ditching kids next thing they would do is just break into the house and kill us

      How ‘bout I never lost my house key to find out what her reaction was gon’ be lol 😂, never underestimate the paranoia of a Black mom . . . had me on the playground in elementary school scared to lose that thing

      And then you have people like my parents that leave a key outside even with an empty nest…

      Tbf their neighbors would notice a leaf that wasn’t from a tree on the street then blow up NextDoor about it.
