There is no bad publicity. See and be seen. If someone dresses like a turd the media will talk about it. It‘s the constant need for attention.

I thought it’s a competition who will look more stupid. They probably get the stupid award by the end, but if they did it right, they can’t claim it, cause their costume is probably preventing them from walking.

To remind us that they, the wealthy, can do as they please. Probably, I dunno they’re fucking weird.

it’s basically a charity event for art preservation, maintenance etc , it’s a shame more people don’t know this

    7. Short answer: Money

Long answer: Usually is not their choice. I mean they put the money and they end up wearing it, but usually behind every crazy or lame looking dress/outfit there’s a prestigious designer behind it, and most of them are way too eccentric, and take the opportunity of designing for a person to absolutely go nuts.

Here in Spain we have a meme with Cristina Pedroche. Every new year’s eve she present the countdown on live tv and every year she wears a terrible dress, sometimes can’t even be considered a dress.
Just a heads up if you want to look it up, It may be a little be NSFW.
And yes the designer is the same every year and he is, ase we say here, crazy as a goat.

Its a fundraiser for the **costume** institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art

So yes, go nutso and silly is the thing to do. Getting publicity comes along with it. Could be business for some wants to get something out of it.

It’s art and it’s an event where the intention is specifically to have artistic, “out there,” and creative outfits. They have a general theme each year, but the entire idea is to go all-in.

The outfits were never intended, or even marketed as being actual outfits people would usually wear.

If I had spare fucks to give, won a lottery of fucks, and on my way to collect my winnings found a huge suitcase full of fucks on the floor, I still wouldn’t give a tiny amount of the smallest fuck about the met gala.

    12. It looks like loads of fun like kids playing dress up. Some of them are very creative and like walking works of art.

You don’t understand why people obsessed with being the centre of attention at all times dress like morons for cameras?
