Lol Alexander was pretty great as long as you mean great in the literal sense. Impactful, impressive, etc.

Genghis Khan was one of *the* most influential people in human history, calling him Great is valid. Greatness doesnt necessarily mean more good anymore, It’s a bit more like Grand. Idw use this example but yk when Harry Potter goes to Olivanders to get his wand and he tell him that it’s twin belonged to a great man, terrible but *Great*? It’s that.

    3. The difference is that most people in Europe who wrote the foundation of western history were conquered by Alexander, and while the people who wrote the history of Ghengis Khan in Europe were not conquered….

That’s why Alexander is the great conqueror and Gengis Khan the leader of the wild hordes …

Alexander the Great cause we won every battle he fought in

And died before he fought a battle he’d lose

      Alexander is real life Anakin.

Became the thing he swore to destroy.

Yeah his ego was the death of him, considering the reason he probably got sick and died was owing to this thing called marching his army through the Iranian desert rather than actually using the existing roads.

He introduced worshipping the head of state as a god to Europe. It was only 1000 years later that Theodosius would stop that

Everybody here acting like the Greek cities and Greek dynasties that he left behind all throughout the empire were not hugely influential in the several centuries thereafter…..

    11. Idk of anyone that religiously defends Alex. The guy was far from perfect.

This is the HistoryMemes sub. It’s reddit. You say 1 good thing about Ottomans and you will be flooded with “Hurr durr muh Tireks Pasha genociding 65 bajillion dinosaurs! Never forgetti mom’s spaghetti!” from the same folk who circlejerk Roman Empire and basically every single genocidal European leader + empire/kingdom/fiefdom/village/serfdom.

We are here simply to get brainwashed. That’s it. Please keep your common sense away from here.

Thebans would highly disagree with alexander “the perfect” nickname…

They were both monterous and great, there’s a reason Alexander was called the demon in many places, but let’s not pretend they are on the same level of evil lol, the khan lived a lot longer and assaulted a lot of women. He did a lot more personal evil than Alexander ever did

The world’s historical viewpoint is western centric and within that, Alexander is the great while Genghis is the nomadic barbarian. It is what it is. In a fair world, both would get equal respect for their incomprehensible accomplishments.
