    1. No wonder Hogwart Legacy make bank.

Also, international audiences doesn’t care JK Rowling controversy.

This would’ve been a way better skit if it just ended after the first guy sat on the couch. Adding more people really detracted from it

Sign of the current housing market. Takes 8 people to afford rent.

Man I don’t have TikTok brain but that was too long for such a simple skit

    5. While I may or may not disagree with JK Rowling, I think the points made by her should fall within reasonable discourse. Simply calling someone transphobic if they do not agree with you 100% is how you create backlash – and how you fail to adapt and improve your own standpoint.

Kingsley wasn’t the only black character.

Dean Thomas: A Gryffindor student and Harry’s classmate, explicitly described as a Black boy.

Angelina Johnson: A Gryffindor Chaser who is described as a tall Black witch.

Lee Jordan: A commentator and Gryffindor student, described as a Black boy with dreadlocks.

Blaise Zabini: A Slytherin student in Harry’s year, described in the books as a tall Black boy.

Alicia Spinnet: A Gryffindor Chaser who was portrayed by Black actresses in the films.

      Edit: spelling

    7. Whys the video overlayed with a zoomed in version like this? Its so distracting to watch.

    8. Not trying to defend Rowling. But I’m 100% sure there’s multiple black characters in the story, like Lee Jordan, Dean Thomas, Angelina Johnson. Not to mention, Hogwarts is in Scotland so it makes sense most characters are gonna be white. It’s a different story if it was in America.

    9. Easiest solution: have your physical copies of the films from when you were younger and watch all you want guilt free

    10. The series and the controversy is a good example of people just parroting things without really thinking. People enjoy the books and films as they’re decently written, plus the nostalgia value.

Watching the films is fine if you don’t like her, provided it’s a Blu-ray (whatever they are) or you’re sailing the sevens seas. Streaming or buying anything Harry Potter related post-Rowling Meltdown is the only time you’re really supporting her.

It’s like reading the books – the number of people who have said similar things about reading the books supposedly supporting her views is bizarre given the books a lot of people have been reading secondhand ones, or the ones they bought originally as they were released.

Quietly enjoying the films and books etc but disconnected from any way to measure engagement really is achievable and ok. Parroting the same “you do know…” line is so predictable that it should be funny, but it’s just overdone now.

There were more black/brown ppl in Harry Potter than in this skit, that says a lot.
