more info: The dog has Megaesophagus, an enlargement of the esophagus that makes it hard to get food to move down into his gut. He requires the help of gravity to help move the bolus of food downward and so has to sit upright. This chair (called a Bailey chair) was designed to help dogs with this condition and would have otherwise been put down.

We had a foster with that condition. He needed this same chair to eat.

He couldn’t even drink water or he’d throw it right back up.

We could only give him ice cubes.

Looks like he’s ready to ride a rollercoaster 😂

Also just realized the chair looks like a dog sitting pretty. That’s so cute.

Probably super easy to train him to do that when its literally the only way to get food lmao

I want to see how they got him in that the first time, that must have been an ordeal.

I had a bulldog with this condition about 13 years ago. ME is manageable with knowledge and patience. Water can be a challenge and can’t be unsupervised. People generally figure out what works and what doesn’t.

I spoon fed my dog in a chair but it didn’t look like this one because bulldogs are built a bit different and not only did he have ME but he had a pocket where food would get caught. I had a friend build a ramp with a lot of cushion so my dog could rest on it at an angle. Water had to be given with supervision, from a raised bowl, and he had to sit immediately after drinking until he belched.
