There was a fairly good limited series about this guy on Netlfix back in 2023 called Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
It starred David Oyewolo as Reeves and had a pretty good supporting cast including Donald Sutherland, Barry Pepper, Dennis Quaid, and Shea Whigham.
I watched it and really enjoyed it.

I feel like he had to have ben running around just arresting anyone he felt like. That’s an awful lot of people to be arresting in an area that didn’t have a lot of people in it…
