Archaeological excavations have uncovered various hygiene tools. A common discovery is combs for hair and beards. These combs were often made from bone or wood, with some of the most impressive examples crafted from antlers. They could also serve as status symbols, featuring intricate carvings and stored in decorative cases, likely to show off one’s wealth. According to the chronicle of John of Wallingford, the Vikings combed their hair daily and bathed every Saturday, making them attractive to English women. Many English women left their families to live with Norse men, angering English farmers and eventually leading to violent conflicts.
The same meme could be used for incels vs. normal people.
Which is to say: as true today as it was then.

I’m sick of seeing this get posted around. It doesn’t mean the English didn’t wash. By all other accounts. The Vikings had horrible cleanliness. Ibn Fadlan says, as in the article, we have other accounts of cleanliness in the viking age, and we were either just as clean as the Vikings or better people all across Europe thought bad smells were a sign of disease, so it has never been socially acceptable to be dirty. Also, Saturday doesn’t come from laugardagr it old English for Saturn’s day, so my opinion of this website is already low.

In 1000 years someone will see an old Jerry Falwell clip and think hurricane Katrina was brought on by gay pride.

How are you supposed to go to Bath every week when you’re in Northumbria?

I never understood this flimsy history, I think it goes along the lines of the English women swooning over the vikings because they had more baths apparently. I can imagine the turn on as the vikings swept them off their feet with their fathers and brothers guts splattered on the vikings clothes.

From what I understand we underestimate the average european hygiene, but scandinavian folk did seem to give a lot of importance to their look and their weekly cleaning.
That said, the real goat of the cleanliness of are the muslims.

Yes the vikings were stealing women… to be taken back as sex slaves.
While murdering the English farmers.
I’m not sure where all the historical viking glazing comes from.
