For transparency's sake, to anyone that cares, I'm not a US citizen just like the progressives cuz they dont want to actively fuck the rest of the world sideways like establishment republicans and democrats.

    1. The problem is more the DNC won’t give any money or support to opponents in primaries making establishment Dems have a huge advantage over progressive challengers. They actively don’t want progressives running.

    2. Progressives really can’t see the tea leaves with Platner?

      Dude is a Fetterman, not a Mamdani…

    3. Get those 2 blue hog/dog Senators from NY replaced with Progressives ASAP!!! Both of those f6cks helped kick out Al Franken for completely bullshit reasons. Spineless weasels. They melt when confronted by AIPAC!!!

dnc and chuck needs to get on board now that Platner will be facing against Collins. If they won’t it really shows new leadership is further needed.

    5. One state is not representative of the entire nation, however.

Simply put, not enough progressive supportive actually, you know, vote.

It was extremely depressing to see people who were so adamant about their support of Sanders in the lead up to the primary who then stayed home. Some people in my area expressed shock that the vote had even happened already; they literally had no idea there was a primary vote, they thought they were just supposed to vote in the general.

    6. the ACA was the only piece of Progressive legislation passed in almost all of Reddits lifetime.  And it is neutered to the point where it’s just a funding scheme for the healthcare industry.  The USA has no idea what progressivism is, because we have never seen it.

    7. I mean… a super old woman who didn’t really even seem to want to run in the first place dropped out.

Let’s stop with this awful narrative that democrats are in some big internal civil war. We had a primary and someone won. It’s it some broad indictment on the party.

That’s what the right wants by the way – to convince us within the Democratic Party that we hate each other. Don’t let them. Vote blue.

democrats remind me of when I used to go to court, they would give me a public defender. Wasn’t worth jack schitt, ineffective, incompetent, possibly working with the enemy to fuck me over. That is the DNC.

    9. I’m a progressive and even I understand our electoral college version of first past the post. Refusing to vote DNC just leads to more Republicans and regressive politics. The place to crush the DNC is the primary

    10. I can’t speak for every Democrat, but my issue with Planter is that he’s clearly cut from the same cloth Sinema/Fetterman, but *maybe* his portion of that cloth also has a Nazi flag doodled on it.

He went on an Anti-semites podcast *this year*, and said he was a longtime fan. He then retweeted Stew avowed-holocaust-denier Peters. All on the backdrop that even if he didn’t know it was a Nazi tattoo when he got it, he definitely knew before he ran for office.

He talks the talk, but the walk he’s been waking is a little too Nazi adjacent for me. That’s not even mentioning all the horrible shit he said years ago.

Establishment Corpo Democrats are worst than the GOP as they are just performative opposition and actively betray the people by torpedoing any real progress..

The GOP doesn’t hide what they do or who they’re loyal to..

This current American shit show (and the shit show created in the gulf by the Americans) is direclty attributed to America’s establishment Democrats. Running a dementia riddled candidate, hoping no one would notice? Right. Your country is getting exactly what it deserves. Sadly the rest of the world is paying the price for your ignorance and hubris.

Graham Platner is carrying the Bernie Sander progressive flag. I’ve been following him for awhile and have been impressed. Jon Stewart just did a long form interview on his Weekly Show podcast. Graham is very well spoken…he has a knack for boiling down issues that isn’t the usual democrat pander-speak. He’s clearly very thoughtful and educated on the issues.

I hope people like Graham are the future of ‘the left’.

I’ll admit I don’t follow Maine because I don’t live in Maine and can’t do anything about it… but what’s the story? Is Platner a progressive? What are Mills politics?

    15. existential_antelope on

I don’t think they’re panicking. If it was popular they’d be campaigning on it.

Nothing says progressivism like a rich nazi tattooed mercenary. The ONLY reason to vote for platner is because he has a better platform than the others. Which is good enough. but don’t defend his life or decisions. And don’t just admit you will vote for him no matter what. Vocalize your resistance, then on election day vote for him if you must

Liberal Democrats win in liberal places, when they’re charismatic and show a willingness to land punches.
