The “Sea Peoples” came from the northern and eastern parts of the Western Mediterranean. Several of their tribes have been tied to places in Anatolia and Italy. It’s not a big mystery, they’re just people.

I need to read more Plato, but I am 99.999% sure Atlantis is an allegory.

Heinrich Schliemann & Odysseus locking hands and flexing meme over destroying ancient Troy.

    4. This has long been settled; we now know Atlantis was in Antarctica until it relocated to the Pegasus galaxy.

It was just an allegory for what Plato perceived as the failings of his society and a parable that it would lead to bad things.

I’m with her, Atlantis ain’t real, bro. Plato even said he was making it up as an allegory to prove a point. “Homer” said no such thing about the Iliad.

It’s actually supposed to be Athens, but they kept misspelling it

I’m convinced Atlantis is now under the north sea and is doggerland

Atlantis and Troy belong to completely different literary genres with different conventions. An ancient Greek epic such as the *Iliad* contains many real toponyms, and it was long suspected that Troy was either a real place or inspired by a real place (I personally think that the case for Hisarlik being the Homeric Troy not as strong as it’s often made to be, but that’s another debate).

Atlantis, on the other hand comes from a philosophical allegory, just like Plato’s cave. Nobody in their right mind would claim that Plato’s cave is actually a real place on Earth.

The thought expressed in the meme would be like saying “If the city of Paris appears in Marcel Proust’s novels and is also a real place on Earth, then maybe Alice’s Wonderland is real too, after all it also appears in a book, isn’t it?”
