My first thought. The guys up high are watching for sharks. They do get some fun time though.

    2. We did that once off a carrier in the Caribbean-

once my eyes adjusted to looking deep under water, and I saw all the dark shapes moving down there, I crawled up the cargo net and said “nope” and never went in deep ocean again for swimming again.

Did that off a sub several miles south of Bermuda back in the sixties. The water was 24,000 ft deep.

On my first boat one of the things we did for Shellback involved swimming over the equator. Different class than this one though. The boat in the picture is a Skipjack class.

Alright guys this seems like a good spot. We’re in 9,000 feet of water so go ahead and dive in off the tower it’s plenty deep.

Dumb question but the outside of the submarine in the sun doesn’t get too hot to sit on like that?

I did this once. I dove in and swam under the water until I realized I could look along my body, see my feet and seem under the boat (a boomer). I looked up and saw the tiny feet of the people above me. I swam up, found my way back to the Jacob’s ladder, got back up and never jumped in again. That water was f*ck deep. The other two time there was swim call I was annoyed the sudden O2 increase woke me up.
