And this is 90s money so its like twice as much in todays purchasing power, probably even more realistically. Thats more money than entire countries would earn from taxes.
He burned $2 million in cash after his plane crashed to keep his daughter warm. Pablo was all about the power.

As the show Narcos does a fair job pointing out – Pablo and the Medellin cartel when it came to managing money were very unsophisticated, uneducated and were basically thugs that managed to create a multibillion dollar enterprise without the apparent serious effort to launder or clean or invest any of it barely. Him and others literally buried it and stuffed it away in hiding places.
Their chief rivals – Cali Cartel, were much more sophisticated and interested in legitimizing themselves and had the brain cells to rapidly launder their money asap as soon the money came in. They weren’t just sitting on piles of cash like some cartoon villains unlike the Medellin cartel.
That’s still 10% of his income. I would be pissed if rats ate 10% of my salary.
