    1. This is why every successful animation needs a movie every now and again – so they can take the shading guy out of storage and make sure he’s still working correctly.

    2. IIRC – They do that because animated movies don’t have to worry about reusing the same assets given they have a larger budget. If cartoons all were shaded they would have to rerender every asset under different lighting conditions.

      Haha I remember realizing this as a kid when I saw the Rugrats in Paris movie in theaters

    4. The new Avatar movie goes hard. It was such a breath of fresh air compared to the dogshit animation of Invincible that I am used to.

      And I always prefer the look of the cartoon than the movie. It’s just more familiar, therefore better

      It’s interesting to see how minimal lighting changes alter the perception of the character

      I feel like Homer Simpson would be the much better example to use here since that’s probably the biggest offender in this category.

      The Bob’s Burgers movie actually put me off because the animation is so much cleaner, detailed and fluid than the show

      Otherwise people will say ‘it felt just like watching a long episode in the theaters’
