This is why every successful animation needs a movie every now and again – so they can take the shading guy out of storage and make sure he’s still working correctly.

IIRC – They do that because animated movies don’t have to worry about reusing the same assets given they have a larger budget. If cartoons all were shaded they would have to rerender every asset under different lighting conditions.

The Bob’s Burgers movie actually put me off because the animation is so much cleaner, detailed and fluid than the show
