1- liking someone literally younger than your own child is a family tradition
2- trump sees any form of affection or endearment as sexual in nature. It’s one of the possible reasons he talks about his daughters in sexual terms- he doesn’t see how anyone can connect outside of sexual conquest. So in a scenario where trump’s mother frequently says how much she wishes she had a child like Charles, a child worthy of being loved, unlike some others she may name- I could see trump interpreting this as “my mum has a crush on charles”
