It’s really strange that the entire GOP is anti-secret service. They’ve been able to properly lockdown venues for decades… I wonder what changed?

    2. PM_THE_REAPER on

Funny how that only recently became a GOP talking point. Up until then it was just a “big beautiful ballroom”.

    3. It’s a huge opportunity for Trump to grift a ton of kickbacks from the builders, same goes for his Arc de Trump

He’s renovating the White House to accommodate his forever castle. The big ugly ballroom isn’t scheduled for completion until 2028, when he’s supposed to be out of here. He has no plans to leave. And this is his latest tchotchke he’s peddling on his merch website:

Didn’t security do exactly what it’s supposed to do? Guy runs through metal detector check point. Secret service basically immediately details him. He didn’t hurt anyone. If I recall, there was one friendly fire bullet stopped by a vest. What would the ballroom have done any different? It seems like a near perfect response and example of why we don’t need a gigantic ballroom.

    6. It’s amazing how secret service has been able to keep so many presidents safe at big open air venues, ball rooms, hotels all around the world for so long but the moment this asshole wants something he can’t have it all comes apart.

After all it’s not like presidents camp out on air force one when travelling, they go to hotels, that are secured….

The threat to national security is not the lack of a trump style gilded ugly ballroom, it is Trump himself

    7. National security means the security of the nation. The nation is not just the President and his cabinet and horde of lackeys. The nation is the everyday people who are the backbone and lifeblood. The 99% who do not have golden toilets in skyscrapers with their names on them.

People who lie like that are anti social parasites who need to be imprisoned for misleading people.

Ask them if they’d still do the ballroom if it was called the people’s hall. Or Obama hall.

    10. They should just call it a basketball court and all Dems would immediately approve 🙄

It is so hilarious the kind of crap MAGATs love and what they believe is a “waste”.

    12. Weird how our national security was MUCH better before trump and his gang of idiots, and without any White House ballrooms whatsoever.

    13. He does not have time for “fun project “ tell his ass to focus on the war he started and the economy he tanked.

    14. Never-Dont-Give-Up on

I wouldn’t call it his project… He’s not doing any of the planning or building. Other people are doing all of the work and he’s saying “yes, that will work”

    15. The last thing this country needs is an elitist ballroom.

Why not feed/house our homeless vets instead?

    16. (Obama): hundreds if not thousands of credible threats: no “near-assassinations” in eight years.

(Trump): *FOUR* “almost ssassinations” within two years.

Maybe replacing competent individuals with bootlickers wasn’t the best move……

I hope you all rememver that these fuckers argued that a vanity project ballroom is a top national security facility

    18. dragonfliesloveme on

no other president ever needed a ballroom for security. Trump is exceedingly greedy, corrupt, and only installs incompetent idiotic loyalists.

we don’t need a ballroom, we need a functioning government

    19. Thesheriffisnearer on

Golf courses are well known for their national security due to the limited paths for entrances and exits

    20. Taman_Should on

I’m not saying the last attempt was staged. But if they didn’t want us to think it was staged, maybe they shouldn’t have used it to sell Trump’s wishcasting vanity project a millisecond after it happened.

    21. MarvinParanoAndroid on

The ballroom is just a diversion. Corruption is the issue in this administration.

    22. Or maybe the secret service just need to be better at their jobs!? Apparently 5 shots fired at the guy, and all missed. Yeesh.

    23. jiggythejigsaw on

You know what is critical for our National security? Locking Trump up and the rest of his regime.

    24. EarlGrey1806 on
