Going that fast for that long is mind boggling to me

I think most people that don’t run cannot comprehend how insane that is. This is faster than average people can sprint all out but for 40km.

What an absolute amazing feat of human athleticism and endurance

At my physical peak I ran one mile at 5:40. This guy averaged 4:58 over 26.2 miles. Unbelievable

I don’t think I could even reach 21km/h for a moment of sprinting my hardest – let alone maintain it for 2 straight hours.. that’s insane.

The winners of the last 24 London Marathons have been either Ethiopian or Kenyan. I think kids there come out of the womb running marathons.

Imagine being the second person ever to go under two hours and it’s still not good enough to win. I feel so bad for the guy.

Man, I remember when Eliud Kipchoge first ran a sub 2 hour marathon distance. It took so much prep work (right temperature, wind conditions, pacers, etc.) To be able to do it in a real race is crazy!

Is the first one is Eliud Kipchoge? If it is, then this one is even more impressive that they did it in competitive marathon

Imagine breaking 2hrs and coming second!

I’ve always seen that record being crushed in Berlin 🙁

The team that stayed at the end race treated him like nobody.. it’s just the camera man that gived him attention

To those wondering: that’s 02:49 minutes per kilometer or 4:33 minutes per mile.
Absolutely insane.

But what shoes did he wear? I need to know if I stand a hope of getting a sub 2 hour marathon.

Kepchoge would be proud to see this…he tried to do it for so long..

For the average person, a sub-2 hr half marathon is a very good achievement and strong pace. To do a full marathon in sub 2 hr is ridiculous.

What do you choose for zombie apocalypse: all Jamaicans turn zombies or all Kenyan turn zombies?

I don’t think most people realize how fast they are running. It’s absolutely insane.

I feel bad for the guy right behind him lol he would have been the one to beat the record if Sawe wasn’t racing

42km at less than 3 minutes a km for EVERY SINGLE KM is absolute insane!
I could maybe do a km at that pace but then I’d be done.
That’s every 100m in 17 seconds ffs. Absolutely mental.
JNSD90 on
This is about 2 min 50 sec per km for 42.2km.
I’m a runner. The fastest I can flat out sprint, for like, 100m, would be maybe 3min 30sec.
Mind boggling.

I wouldn’t last 400 meters at that pace! Absolute amazing and congratulations to him!!

I will never forget the first time I watched the Boston marathon and the lead pack came running, no sprinting, by us at Coolidge Corner (approx 3.5 miles from the finish line). My mind was/is still completely blown away.

His running form is friggin amazing. Looks like he’s gliding.
