My brother, Darrell, just told me that he hates that people have to work weekends instead of spending time with their family. And he told me if he were president, this is what he would put into place:

To allow all the current Saturday/Sunday working employees would get the days off and all weekend working jobs would be replaced with incarcerated citizens and/or political prisoners. He said they are just sitting around in jail cells anyway, so why not put them to work doing something productive for society. This would allow so many people the chance to spend more time with loved ones and be happy (his words)

    Yeah…great idea brother

So people who work on the weekends so they can be home during the week to take care of their family don’t get to have jobs?  Is your brother’s government going to take care of all those people for free?

    2. Just casually dropping “political prisoners” in there like it’s a completely normal demographic to have. Darrell really just reinvented the Gulag but gave it a family-friendly corporate spin.

Ask your brother—- all these jail cell sitters, who is going to watch over them while on the weekend job site?

Federal inmates at camps are already slaves to an extent. The camp in Pensacola used to have a contract with the navy base an the airforce base nearby. They would work in a building with no AC making uniforms and bags at the airforce base. 10 hours a day at around 24 cents an hour.

The navy base has 20 separate lawn cutting crews of around 7-10 people. They got paid 12 cents an hour for 10 hours a day.

State prisons have these programs as well. People just dont realize they are inmates doing govt contracts.

So we’re going to force convicted felons do be weekend firefighters, and run bank branches?

    6. So I guess I shouldn’t get hit by a car and need emergency care over the weekend, huh?

    7. It’s like having your own personal Slave. SMFH. By the way always have a pack of cigarettes in your car to throw out the window as you pass them on the highway.

Can we arrest some doctors and nurses to cover the weekend shifts at my hospital?

Your name wouldn’t happen to be Larry, would it? And by chance, do you have another brother named Darryl?

If companies could hire inmates to do your job for pennies on the weekends, they’ll definitely do it the rest of the week, too.

So when i go to a restaurant, museum, amusement park, etc on the weekends, it’ll be run by convicts…

      Yeah sounds great. (/s)

    12. Where I am, these workers are there voluntarily. It reduces their sentence if they choose to work. Some even avoid time altogether by working. Hence, “community service”.

Well, we already have prisoner slave labour, and if you let employers use it for every job one day a week, it won’t be long before they lay everyone off and use slaves every day of the week.

The former workers, now made redundant, will end up breaking laws to survive, become inmates themselves, and be put back into the jobs they were laid off from, but now as literal slaves instead of just feeling like ones due to the unlivable wages they were making before.

Sounds like a winning plan for business owners and for-profit prisons, and when it comes down to it: does anyone else really matter?

    14. Ah yes, spending weekend time with family…

Dining at an Applebees staffed entirely by political prisoners,

Going to the movies with a violent offender chained to the projector,

Stopping at Sears to buy some school clothes from a white collar criminal,

Maybe getting ice cream at the mall food court from a drug dealer serving time,

      Truly an idyllic life!

“You want spit with that?” Also, the cost of surveiling that workforce, the low quality of it and the danger..

That sounds like a good idea because now all the weekend prison guards are just prisoners. So we’d immediately fix the incarceration problems in the US and because all of the police are prisoners too, there’s no one to do anything about it.

      Let’s do it.

Honest to god, I’ve heard so many of these types of people literally advocating for share cropping as a solution to labor issues. Like…bro…we have done this before. It did not end well.
