Slime twink didn’t millions to start his own country well bone daddy did. Don’t get me wrong both countries are similar peacefully that accepts almost all races but one had a bloodier start

The only difference I see between these two is that Ainz spurred another nation to attack him himself, to claim self defense into overkill. And Rimuru didn’t, and with no overkill.

The difference is just how many war crimes they commit. No, defending border and nation does not count as warcrime.

To be clear the main difference between slime and overlord is in slime the entire world is built around rimuru everything that happens happens because of rimuru and only new characters are introduced when they are going to interact with rimuru otherwise they for the most part don’t exist and are not mentioned.
In overlord the world is its own thing and ainz and Nazarick are just in it. Ainz definitely does worse things but his world feels more genuine and lived in.

Ngl i dislike both series for bad writing and moral bankruptcy respectively, watching people tear each other apart over and over in the comment sections of these sorts of posts are infinitely more entertaining
In all fairness, Rimuru was completely open for negotiation, and made it abundantly clear that if you mess with Tempest, you will have 1 of the divine dragons on your ass.
He opts for preferably not war, and infact has treaties with a number of nations. Just when an army the size of a small nation rocks up at your doorstep basically unprovoked, and kills hundreds of your citizens… it’s more than justified.
Ainz went full method just to go with the flow, and ends up killing waaaay more, doesn’t help that he also has emotion nullification, so he is rather apathetic to the morality. He just seems wholly incapable of saying no to his genocidal council.
