No it won’t. The AI replies will be used as training data for next gen LLMs making em dash more prevalent

Em—dashes, unnecessary three part lists, and over the top prose that feels as if it were intended for the sort of assignment one might have turned in during their time as an adolescent student.

The real question is what data was used to train the LLM that contained Em dashes…

As a writer I’ve been called out once by a sort of crazy person who added some life threatening to the mix because I use em dashes in my writing.
How can I fkn prove to them or others that I didn’t feel my writing through AI or Grammarly? Like, am I supposed to film myself while writing idk it’s terrible.
I wish AI could stop generating text altogether and return back to scripted chatbots

As a writer, it’s sad to see Em Dashes belongs to AI, humanity must get Em Dashes back

Bruh, soon people are gonna think I’m AI because I use „Polish quotes”.

Are they also using ellipsis? That’s my go to behind em dashes

LLMs, if they can’t write things like “It’s not x, it’s y” and “Here’s how/why” for 0.0000000274 femtoseconds: *explode*

I started using Opus 4.7 and it was the first time that I saw the ai model use in technical writing the word ‘dogfooding’.

Trying to find the em dash on a smartphone keyboard is an undercover mission in itself. I just use three dots and pray for mercy.

Ok but the problem isn’t em dashes, it’s using multiple em dashes every other sentence. People don’t write that way. Em dashes should season a paragraph, not overpower it. If you’re writing poetry, em dashes every line, live your life. But if you’re writing prose, too many em dashes are distracting and can be a sign of needing to focus your ideas better.

It’s getting tough to decide which annoys me more: ai written books or the ’emdash’ assumption.

It’s funny that in the future, to risk not looking like an AI, people will dumb down the way they write.

Using dashes is part of good grammar. I know that as a writer.

I use dashes while I type like this- so the only thing that kind of saves me- is that I don’t put a space- but I guess I still have to change my way/ maybe I’ll try this/ but I hate it/ UGH

Lots of people with whom I work never used em dashes. Never. Now their email, meeting briefs, etc are full of them and they claim they’ve “always used them”. chatGPT also loves the word “align” which has ballooned in use.
Also, the word “surface” as a verb is popular now. “Our goal is to surface any edge cases not caught by our filters”. The IT people LOVE it. It’s also a fave of chatGPT which is where they got it but, of course, everyone claims they’ve always used it.
Some people have used them as part of their writing for years so yea not everyone is on the chatGPT train.
