The Great Plateau in Breath of the Wild definitely gave me this exact existential crisis. Still recovering from that.

Elden Ring for me.
I thought that the grand lift of Dectus was the final dungeon/end of the game.
Oh how wrong I was…

I usually have the exact opposite experience where I’m like when does the game actually begin and it just ends.

Final Fantasy VII, you escape Midgar after some time. It feels like a sort of climax.
You emerge into the world map screen.
Finished? _You’ve barely gotten started._

Kingdom Hearts 1. I thought the game was half on the island and half in Traverse Town cause I kept getting lost and didn’t really know how to play so it took forever. Nope, you finally get your ship and can start going places lol

Not many games that have given me this feeling.
Probably not since back in the day with Zelda/Mario 64 etc where my expectations was really low on how big the game were gonna be.

Politely everyone, Noita wins this and it’s not even close.
The AVERAGE time to beat the tutorial is 50 hours. And that’s not an exaggeration, the statistics show most people beat the tutorial around 30-100 hours of playtime.
Once you beat that, it’s 300-500 hours before you’ve seen everything the game has to show you. It’s a PROPER rouge-like.
The game has literally not been completed 100% yet either. There is an unsolved puzzle that is driving the community nuts.

Wasn’t the tutorial area but leaving Midgar in FFVII got me. I shouldn’t have been surprised, the game had like 3 CDs and you don’t even use #2 by the time you leave Midgar.
