Good to know they’re going to be using public transportation instead of putting another car on the road! 🙂

Bought a 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser at 60 years old. Definitely will be the last one.

I had a great-grandmother who always wanted to give us every birthday and Christmas present early because “she won’t make it to our birthday/Christmas”, and she didn’t plan months ahead because “she could feel that she will be dead by then”. She died when I was around 6 years old and she was 90, but she has been doing this thing about dying soon since my mother was a child, so almost 3 decades at the time of her actual death.

I had a colleague who bought a car at retirement as “his last car”. Did all sorts of research. Hinted high and low for it. I think it may have been the only car he ever bought brand new. A year later he got T-boned in a parking lot and it got written off….. He was SO mad because he thought he was done with finding new cars.

My grandpa leased new CTS-5s every 4 years until he died. Also had a 2009 Corvette C6 that he bought brand new, sold it in 2019 with only 10K miles on it and got back more than he paid for it because it was in pristine condition.
His only redeeming qualities tbh. He was a piece of shit otherwise, but damn that man had great taste in cars

I am going through this now. My parents are in theory 70s and just bought a new car.
The good news is that it was of the current year they bought it. It should be good for a while.

Worse for me is thinking about my life in terms of how many more cats or dogs I’ll be able to adopt. For cats I’m realistically down to 3 or 4 tops

I hope I am driving my last car and I am only in my 40s. Im not sick. I love living life. I just hate buying cars.

I bought a 2008 Jeep Liberty off of my cousin’s grandma when she was moving into a retirement home. She’d had it over a decade and loved it, and it was her last car.
She sadly passed away three months after she sold it to me.

Well now they don’t know that for sure. If anything it’s wishful thinking.

Had a lady tell me she got her last new car and it had to be big enough to sleep in “just in case”. Like in case she becomes homeless.

This kinda hits, my dad is 71 and his 16 y.o. truck developed unexpected problems. He just purchased a new truck and said, “If I get 16 years out of this one, well I might not need to get 16 years out of it.”

I don’t think they mean death … they just mean it’s expensive and that they would prefer to take care of it than get a new fancy one . Or maybe I’m the old person😔

It makes sense. You don’t make as many trips, so you don’t put as much wear on it and become less likely to get into an accident.

My Dad’s in his 80s he says this any time he buys anything no matter if its a new chair or a bar of soap. Hell maybe I should start saying it after all you never know.
I’ll add I am worried for when he does go. He’s a large man and I fear the plot he’s picked out is up a hill.
