“What shall we do for fun?” What do you do for fun?” From 1946.

my wife and i spend all day together, she’s my best friend and we do pretty much everything around the house and outside of the house together. sleeping on the other hand… we have a king bed, but both of us prefer completely different things (i like firmer surface, thin blanket, one pillow, tv on and i wake up super early for work. she wants a soft cloud and a million blankets/ pillows, wakes up late, and needs dead silence). occasionally i’ll pass out in the bed with her if i’m really wanting a soft surface, but 90% of the time i pass out on the couch because i sleep better there and i can watch tv while i pass out. i’m not banished there, i can come to the bed whenever i want, but i prefer the couch most of the time. some people find it weird but it has prevented us from having a good number of unnecessary arguments just by refusing to conform to the idea that that’s how married couples are “supposed” to sleep. plus it’s nice to have some time to yourself at the end of the day, means that during the day we both are excited to see and hang out with each other and not trying to find a few free moments of alone time.

My parents got a Sleep Number bed (queen) so they can each adjust their side. Then my dad got a CPAP, and he doesn’t adjust the tightness of the mask enough so that, according to my mom, it makes fart noises all night. She sleeps on the couch fairly frequently, lol. (And before we got a nice deep couch, she would roll out a cot mattress and sleep on the floor!)

They are both 76, though, and have been married for 55 years.

As for me, I am single and have a queen bed. I sleep all over it, too, unless my cat is gracing me with his presence, lol. I don’t know how two people can comfortably share a double.

What’s Micky Flynn’s husband going to think when he comes home to find the double bed gone?
