    1. Black Hawk Down took place on October 3-4, 1993. The US/UN operation in Somalia had started as an armed humanitarian operation to protect food procurement to the people of Somalia. However, things took a turn when US and UN soldiers began taking casualties. Due to this, the US prioritized the capture of General Aidid, who was found responsible for the killings. For such a capture mission, US Army Rangers and US Delta Force operators were called to Mogadishu to capture Aidid.

The mission on October 3rd, 1993 was supposed to be an easy snatch and grab mission to capture some of Aidids top lieutenants and financiers. Most believed it would be a 30 minute mission. Most men didnt grab water, proper ammunition, or night vision in lieu of a quick operation. The plan was simple. Rangers will block off four corners of a street around the ‘target building’ while Delta Force operators storm the building from little birds. Then a ground convoy would come pick them up and everyone would roll out of the city. This was not to be. About 40 minutes in, Black Hawk super 61 was hit by an RPG and crashed into the city. Now, the mission changed to a rescue mission. Soon after, super 64 also was hit and crashed as well. Two black hawks were down.

The Rangers and Delta Force decided to move on foot to the first crash site where they proceeded to become bogged down by heavy Somalia militia gunfire around the crash site. The convoy tried to move around and get to the first crash site as well but encountered problems like blocked roads and ambushes. They could not make. The soldiers in the convoy ran low on supplies and gas and decided to head back to base. The soldiers hunkered down around the first crash site and waited for rescue. They would wait about ~16 hours until they saw friendly forces and were heading back to base.
