Not shitting you, that’s how this works. Local nobody runs for a position in township/city government, makes some good decisions, and rises the ranks. Any formal education in politics makes you more credible but isn’t necessarily required.

I contacted my city to fix an old park near a school on my street. the parks manager called me and said it’s been on their list for 7 years. so I decided to look into my city council and found that the seat for my ward is currently empty, and I’ve been looking into roles and responsibilities for the possibility to get that seat, just to serve long enough to fix that problem and resign
Don’t fuck it up and try to do some good.
